Experience Uozu! Spend a time you can lose yourself in!

This experience plan is unique to Uozu, where both the sea and mountains are close at hand. Both adults and children are sure to be enthralled! We hope you will take home a lot of small impressions as souvenirs from Uozu. Spending time with a smile on your face is sure to get your serotonin* flowing! (*Serotonin is a hormone that brings about feelings of relaxation, security, and happiness.)

Learn from a lacquer ware painter! Lacquer Ware Painting Experience|Making a vanishing maki-e teaspoon/Intermediate level (available throughout the year)

Learn how to paint a lacquered teaspoon with the help of a lacquer craftsman. This is a lacquer art experience that can be tried easily by small children.

Experience fee: ¥2,970~ per adult

Learn from a lacquer ware painter! Lacquer Ware Painting Experience|Maki-e "Gugumi-nomi" (sake cup) / Intermediate level (available throughout the year)

Mochi pounding is a traditional Japanese culture that brings smiles to everyone's faces! Mochi pounding is a traditional Japanese culture that puts a smile on everyone's face! Let's make rice cakes together with Uozu folk songs as background music!

Participants will receive a "Tatemon T-shirt" whose design changes every year.
Ujiko (puller) experience at the Tatemon Festival
Volunteers are wanted for the "Tatemono Cooperation Corps"!

Summer in Uozu is known for the "Tatemono Festival. It is a marine festival with a history of about 300 years, and is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Every year, the Tatemon Festival recruits "Tatemon cooperatives" who pull the boat-shaped Manto (lantern) around the festival. Participation is open to elementary school students and up, so why not join with your family and friends and "experience the festival" as a participant?
We announce the call for applications around June each year on our website and on the Uozu City website. We look forward to receiving many applications!
